What if there was a way to make food intake more visual and track all of it? What if there was a way to embed data directly in food? Printable RFID tags will replace barcodes on food packaging, enabling this concept called Nutrismart. A plate reads out our food and works as an invisible diet management system. When placing a cupcake on the plate, it’s scanned by an RFID reader inside the plate. Feedback can be sent to a computer or mobile device where one can witness an infographic of sorts about their eating habits.
With the cost of energy increasing with every passing day and the masses being tempted to move their focus toward renewable sources of energy, product designers have got a chance to design products that promise to conserve energy in the easiest possible way. The same is the case with Paul Scarfe, who has made good use of the opportunity and has designed an energy saving device he calls Proxim.

Unlike other energy savers which themselves rely on the use of batteries or grid electricity, Proxim generates energy for itself using a micro-generator in the form of a small oscillating weight that converts the energy of motion into electricity. The device can integrate seamlessly into a person’s life. Proxim is made to work effortlessly whenever you go by the use of RFID technology, which makes it a mobile, cheap and effective way to control all powered devices without needing repeated attention.

Proxim is equipped with a translucent power-off button that not only allows the user to see the mechanics of electricity generation inside the device but also allows him or her to control the energy being consumed by any of their home appliance. The device needs the user to install a separate plug-in module to each of their appliances, which then interacts with the device giving the user the ability to cut power or re-initiate power to a specific device.

Pets in some or the other way have been useful for mankind. Taking this a step further is G-navi, designed by Industrial Designer Shawn Youndong Kim of Sydney, Australia. This navigation system that comes clubbed with a microphone will make mobility of people with restricted eyesight easy and more efficient. One can easily train their pets with the help of this device and teach them in terms of directions.

It brings into play the GPS technologies that are used during Horse riding. This device conveniently gets activated when the user and guide dog need to take a turn. The leather collar that comes equipped with a controlling system after learning which direction the dog is supposed to go will get activated. For eg. it will turn the dog’s head towards left after the G-navi device angles towards left, in case of a left turn.

Apart from this gadget will connect devices like laptops and cell phones via Bluetooth for easy exchange of information. A person can without any added effort register number of favorite locations and can alter all whenever required. In case any emergency pops up it will not leave you mid-way. G-navi’s emergency call function will easily link you with your family member, police station or hospital through its RFID and Wireless Technology.

The main objective of this piece of equipment is to help visually impaired people move around with extra advantages and enhanced systems. It will instantly click with people who love pets and those into dog and horse training. The police can take advantage of this navigation system as they will be able to guide sniffing dogs with utmost preciseness.
Pets are innocent creatures and need to be trained well before one can actually depend on them in terms of directions. But mostly people who have visibility problem are either dependent on a white stick or a guide dog to show them way and avoid any mishaps. These pets need to be trained rigorously before one can depend on them one hundred percent, as they tend to get confused between commands or when not in a mood don’t take commands at all. So, G-navi makes sure such a situation does not crop up.

Specially designed for the visually impaired is G-navi. It will ensure that such people don’t feel restricted when it comes to moving around with confidence. Not only will it improve mobility but is also an apt method to train and guide your pets. Apart from all this, the navigation system can be easily coupled with your laptop and cellular phone. In case of an emergency one can make calls for help or even otherwise talk to family and friends.

To some people, traveling by plane can be stressful, especially for the first timer. They find it’s really difficult to find the right gate, even when there are a lot of information boards around. Airport Compass is an airline boarding pass that incorporates a compass to help these passengers find the right gate without any stress. It’s been designed specifically for the elderly people, children, and those who unfamiliar with traveling by plane. Airport can seem to be a complicated place, especially when you are in foreign country, language can be a problem. Airport Compass provide the navigation to find passenger’s way to their departure/arrival gate.

The compass is powered by a solid-state thin film battery, which needs very little energy and is flexible. The arrow is illustrated on e-paper. RFID (radio frequency identification) technology guides the passenger to their gate, having recognized the passenger’s travel route. All the passenger needs to do is follow the arrow. Furthermore, the ticket connects to kiosks within the airport for easy information access about arrival city, such as the weather, transportation, food, etc.
Do you know who the Green Monster is? It’s that skunk-of-a-bill that you get at the end of the month; it devours all your Dollars because you overspent! Only if you could use something like the Live Checking Card! A Credit Card won’t let you go beyond your limits. It’s a digital thang with an E-ink display that allows you to check your payment history on it. It even tracks your bank account’s transaction through RFID. A cumulative amount shows up on the screen every time you swipe the card; giving you your account balance on your finger tips.
The Cuppa is the brainchild of Ben Arrent, who conceptualized this powerful device as a solution for social networking and controlling household gadgets via one system. The Cuppa sports a very slim form that belies its dominant functions. It features a wireless keyboard and monitor and uses WiFi to create a remote access to a local Cuppa Server, which acts as a cache server for online data source, where all of Cuppa’s info is stored. It also sports a RFID reader whose range is both short and long. The ambient and detailed display allows interfacing with multiple monitors. The functions keys have been assigned names so that they are much more useful. Cuppa is touted as the bridge between desktop and mobile phone and is designed to be used in the home, but will fit perfectly in an office environment as well. The Cuppa Sensor is a sticker that could be hidden on any device. Some devices may require an extra connector to help stream that data from it.

The ambient display hosts an OLED screen that displays updates from friends and Instant Messages are flashed immediately. It constantly updates your Microsoft Live feeds.

With the Cuppa sensor you can convert your television screen into a Cuppa display. The lappie/controller device requires very little power to function and is energy efficient. It can be used as the alternate remote to control your entire devices at home or office.
