Mobile phones are going flexible. Yes, you read it right! Just to woo the females, who want everything they possess to bend according to their whims and fancies, Carolina Rebelo has designed a cellphone named Flex. This phone is flexible enough to adorn your arm like a piece of jewelry or will simply slip in the pocket.

The phone easily gets charged by using solar energy as its surface is caked with solar coating. Simply place it where sunrays can kiss its surface and, in just 5 hours, it will get all the required energy to operate. It can be easily charged in any position. The phone is supple enough to bend at an angle of 30 degree. The keypad can be adjusted keeping in mind whether the user is left or right handed. Flex comes with an integrated camera to capture all moments of your life with utmost clarity. The LED screen is flexible enough to shift the information after assessing the position of the keypad. This is possible because there is a chip which is sensitive to the movement of the keyboard. It has displays that read missed calls and also tells how much battery is left.

Flex, with its chick and sleek appearance will be an instant hit amongst all the young and modern women.

Mobile phones have hardly undergone any changes when it comes to the physical attributes. The only difference being they were huge and bulky previously, and now they are getting thinner, sleeker and delicate by the day. But the Ukraine-based designer Andy Kurovets has revolutionized the conventional boring looking mobile phone and has designed a ‘bent’ phone. The Bend mobile phone concept not only looks attractive but its slide-out screen is easy on the eyes by providing more eye-ball space and it also has a slide-out camera module that turns the phone into a flip-like camera. I, personally love standing out in the crowd and if given a chance would love to go in for such a product. I strongly recommend this concept to whoever loves experimenting.

The Tactility is a specially designed mobile phone concept that will diminish the limitation of blind peoples being uncomfortable with traditional mobile phones. The usual mobile phones mainly focus on its aesthetics and functions, without thinking of the usability for a person who will not be able to see it. Moreover, different model handset contains different keyboard arrangements, as well as different operating menus that make it harder to operate a cell phone for blind people. The keyboard of Tactility is designed with Braille and features most commonly used function which will greatly reduce the hassle of blind people using it. The bottom of the phone comprises a circular ring where a chain can be attached to hang the phone around the neck of a blind person which will boost their convenience of using the phone.

Mobile Script Futuristic Solar-powered cellphone with a roll-out touchscreen

Concept cellphone designed to be powered by solar energy.

Industrial designer Aleksander Mukomelov is trying to make use of the latest advancements in technology, including flexible displays in a hi-tech cellphone dubbed the Mobile Script. The cellphone is designed to offer mobility, constant internet access, access to documents, games and give the best in terms of means of communication and contact.

The cellphone carries two touchscreens – a rigid small touchscreen and a flexible large touchscreen that hides neatly behind the smaller screen in collapsed state. The larger screen consists of two layers – a soft OLED touchscreen and a soft nano material that hardens when a small voltage is applied.

The concept device doesn’t require a power charge, as its case is covered with a nano-material that converts sunlight into electricity to recharge the cellphone’s onboard battery. In addition to the solar charging capabilities, the phone can also be recharged via a special wireless recharge rug or using a conventional wall socket.

Nokia CORE Phone – Computer Mouse

The Nokia CORE cellphone is a concept inspired by the futurism graphics of Star Wars. Designed around its interface, which resembles a solar system where all functions revolve around the core, the shape of the phone is derived from the interface core and is expanded around it. Developed under the ease of usage concept, thus it is made with a soft touch filled concavity on each side so it can be easily grabbed and used. For the unique functionality the phone when put facing down on a surface, automatically transfers the interface and content to the screen of the nearest computer via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Having done this, the phone then acts as a mouse-like device to control its own interface on the computer screen.

The user can drag and drop everything from and to the phone screen mounted on the computer using the same phone as a mouse. The mouse buttons as well as the camera lens are hidden on the black graphics on the phone’s reverse side. Because the phone’s screen is made from OLEDs covered in anti scratch polycarbonate, it never suffers a scratch, not even in that screen down position.

Recently we witnessed a basic phone powered by solar energy, and now we have one that powers itself by harnessing the kinetic energy of the body. The SportPhone is to be worn like a wristband and comes with a variety of body monitoring sensors that include a 3D motion sensor, heartbeat rate monitor and calorie sensor. The waterproof, shock resistant phone is made of flexible rubber that allows the user to easily pull down the phone from the arm, to not lose the ear and mouth connection during a phone call. The phone’s ability to recharge itself by harnessing the kinetic energy of the body is great to sustain the energy-intensive applications that the phone is made to run.
