ZAN – Cup Shaped Mp3 Player By Younghyuk Choi

Listening to your favorite music with some pretty great sound quality will be a cup of tea in future, literally. Now we’ve seen some pretty weird and awesome mp3 players in our days. But they usually look like mp3 players, and nothing else. This one’s different though and will need to be kept away from technologically blind folk or someone stupid enough to think it’s really a cup and try drinking from it. Now it’s not exactly an ideal design for a portable mp3 player. Imagine travelling in a subway an pulling out a cup, plugging in headphones and listening, while your fellow travelers stare in astonishment.

The ZAN (meaning “cup” in Korean) is more of a novelty device that you could use at home, and would fit right into your kitchen for your cooking time entertainment. The ZAN’s graphical interface shows up patterns, each for a day in a week, eye-candy in a cup.

Can’t handle the kettle as your wrist is weak or damaged? Here is some good news for people with limited wrist or arm movement. Joseph Cylich of Swinburne University of Technology has altered the way one looks at an elementary kitchen device.

“Qettle” kettle an outstanding design has been invented especially for people with arm and/or wrist difficulty. By inserting the center of mass on the apparatus at the point which the user holds, it helps easing pressure on the wrist muscles, which in turn revolves it ending in a flawless and very trouble-free pouring movement.

It outshines the traditional kettle, as weight from the exterior handle is lightened. Made out of PVC pipes with the inner tube having a separate external covering never makes the outside too hot to handle. A spherical inverted base ensures that the Qettle can be put back easily. Coming in vibrant colors it has a non-slip base and can be used by both, right and left handed people.

Eco Shelf Zenstyle & Natural Pot Personal Eco Air Conditioner

Global warming or not, inevitably every season in my city seems like summer! It’s great to see how designers are trying to evolve the air con by making it blend into the home environment, just like another piece of furniture. Here are two projects: the Eco Shelf Zenstyle & the Natural Pot. The former is a wall mounted shelf cabinet and the latter a flowerpot. Both feature green patches to nurture plants that are fed off the excess water discharged by the AC unit!

A well-laid table attracts a big crowd, but if the cutlery and dishes are not spotless it is a put-off. To avoid any such embarrassments, a dishwasher can be your saving grace. Just had a party at your place and there is a pile of dishes to be washed. Don’t worry, the “Wave,” an aesthetic dishwasher by Brazilian designer Guilherme Parolin, is at your rescue.

Wave not only cleans your utensils but saves water at the same time, keeping your hands soft as ever. Steam used in pre-wash cycles and an accessible product, with the help of two positions buttons and reliefs prevent wastage of precious water. Enhancements have been made in this three people/day dishwasher. With a clear cycle of actions that it carries out, the Wave is definitely a step up in the dishwashing world.

In the few coming years gadgets will cast a spell not only on our living style, but also on every aspect that links to us. Our daily home appliances will remain no longer untouched with its charm. For instance, take this refrigerator concept by Marcela Guarnizo that she designs for Electrolux. The concept looks no less than a gadget that incorporates every access to simplicity. It’s a food storage that acts just like a working table with right tools. Offering plenty of space, the fridge is not only capable of storing cold food, but hot food as well.

The different color indicator shows the type of food stored-blue lights up for cold and red for hot. Its smart glass lets you know more about the food and its freshness, and also tells how to cook and for how long the food can be stored. UV light acts as a purifying device to provide clean drinking water. Apart from being a refrigerator, it also provides some greenery. The flowerpot under the storage space gives greenery by using water that comes from the fridge. Pretty neat concept.
