Sidewinder SCBA : A Next Generation Equipment For Convenient Functioning Of Firefighters

The Sidewinder concept is a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus or SCBA that has been specially designed for firefighters with the ability of a wider field of vision and movement. This innovative mask features a regulator that can retract the air tube over the shoulder, reducing snag points. Additionally, this concept comprises voice amplifier, flashlight and heads up display for providing more information, ensuring better functioning of the firefighters. The design features a GPS system to alert firefighters about an injured coworker and show directions to exit or a particular area. Also, the harness has been changed to enable firefighters to glide through tiny openings without the need of removing their harness.

Watch phones are here and touchscreen wrist phones are here too, taking the liberty and following the opportunistic league, designer Susan Cho has conceptualized a multi-touch phone that you can wear on the wrist. Now, there is still time before multi-touch technology reaches something so small in interface, but because the moment is right, we’ll take a look at what Cho has conjured up in this Sidewinder watch phone. The sleek and trendy watch phones interface is pretty calling, it features different menus and features like, contacts, keypad, setting, tool and others found on the smartphones very clearly on the UI, which the user can access with least fuss even when multi-touching. Equipped with GPS and maps, the Sidewinder watch phones seems a smartphone of the future, but how long we’ll have to wait before something of the sort gets a commercial go is something worth a thought. Would you want to trouble your brains a bit?

TamTam GPS Flashlight by Designaffairs Studio Puts Directions on Any Flat

Visitors without proper knowledge of the route often take a wrong path while traveling new on unknown places. Addressing the issue, the Designaffairs Studio has devised an innovative light that other than lighting path in the dark also navigates travelers to their desired destination without getting lost in crowded cities. Hailed as “Tamtam Flash,” the pocked-sized light flashes the route info on your path to allow an immediate and more intuitive navigation. In addition, the light projects regular maps on any flat surface that the user can zoom and scroll like a digital map to find the right direction or path in a secluded location. Moreover, the Tamtam Flash can read QR tags to allocate additional information to help tourists. All the user need to do is rotate the light to switch between different modes of navigation.

Or yogging…apparently you just run. What is the exercise you speak of? You need to get your heart rate up. And not just with a tall glass of coffee. You’ve got to get out there and run around like crazy. But that wont work! You’ve got to have a nice healthy jog to get your body in shape. But your music doesn’t go with the feet moving! Until now! Clip the “Joggo” device on to your shirt and the headphones into your ears and the beats will be keeping you in check in no time flat.

I used to be a cartpusher. That means all those carts you use in the grocery store, the ones you leave in the middle of the parking lot, the ones that you put your gum under the pushbar of – those are what I collected. I listened to music in my headphones while I pushed – and more often than not, it was heavy metal. Cartpushers often latch on to heavy metal music because it gives them the power they need to push 50 carts, 50 carts in a row, 50 carts in a row all at once.

But what do you do when you need rhythm? What do you listen to when you’ve got to get a gradually increasing pace going? Get one of these things right here! “Joggo” clips onto your shirt and uses a GPS system to calculate your average distance per stride. Using that, and using the distance and timing the user programs in, the Joggo system plays music into headphones (or earplugs, or whatever you may call them) encouraging you to reach a target pace.

Conductive and consistent musical rhythms are pumped into your ear receptors, playing gradually faster as you reach your target pace. Upon stoppping, the rhythm begins again, making you GET GOING!

High-tech, green backpack for the Campus of the Future

For the students of the future, here’s the most avant-garde yet green back pack that will assist in studying and keeping in touch with the world too. Carlos Suarez is the brain behind this ‘ahead of its time’ kinda project schemed for the Campus of the Future exposition in Hawaii. The idea was to showcase innovative products and education systems for the near future. Since the sponsor, Herman Miler, was adamant on designing the future back pack for a specific field of study, Carlos chose to design a 3 product system for the future Environmental Engineer.

The first is an Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) that includes satellite phone, GPS, and satellite internet. The other products support the first such as a backpack with solar panels that recharge the UMPC and a tent that uses solar energy to erect its memory metal frame and power a flexible LCD fro classroom communication.
This completely sustainable green back pack will allow students or research teams to set up camp in a remote location while remaining in contact with the outside world.

Targeting the environmentalists, archeologists, biologists and anyone else who needs to conduct studies in a remote location, this backpack is still a concept and it doesn’t seem to be hitting the production stage any sooner. So guys we will have to make do with our share of simpler eco-friendly alternatives available in today’s times.
