Origin GPS By Xun Ye For Visually Impaired People

Visually impaired people can’t see a single ray of light. So, to make them feel one with the crowd, designers are coming up with products that will act as a ray of hope in their lives. Xun Ye has come up with a walking cane named Origin. The collapsible design will make such people all the more independent and promote mobility.

The cane has been fitted with a GPS system, which will allow blind people to walk without the fear of getting lost or hurt. The designer has made good use of modern technology for the betterment of this section. The simple design features a microphone, speaker, switch and a Braille scale. Braille system has been adopted in this design. Before moving towards a destination, a user says the name of the place through the microphone, which has been crafted in a raised manner for easy recognition. The spoken information is received by the GPS system which acts accordingly.

The cane has been fitted with a Braille scale that turns around to inform the user about upcoming turns. The red colored button serves multiple functions and guides the user as well. It also has a rubber wrist band, which is worn around the wrist for easy usage. Origin, with so many features, will act as the best friend for visually impaired and make them reach their destination independently.

G-navi – Guide Dog Navigation

Pets in some or the other way have been useful for mankind. Taking this a step further is G-navi, designed by Industrial Designer Shawn Youndong Kim of Sydney, Australia. This navigation system that comes clubbed with a microphone will make mobility of people with restricted eyesight easy and more efficient. One can easily train their pets with the help of this device and teach them in terms of directions.

It brings into play the GPS technologies that are used during Horse riding. This device conveniently gets activated when the user and guide dog need to take a turn. The leather collar that comes equipped with a controlling system after learning which direction the dog is supposed to go will get activated. For eg. it will turn the dog’s head towards left after the G-navi device angles towards left, in case of a left turn.

Apart from this gadget will connect devices like laptops and cell phones via Bluetooth for easy exchange of information. A person can without any added effort register number of favorite locations and can alter all whenever required. In case any emergency pops up it will not leave you mid-way. G-navi’s emergency call function will easily link you with your family member, police station or hospital through its RFID and Wireless Technology.

The main objective of this piece of equipment is to help visually impaired people move around with extra advantages and enhanced systems. It will instantly click with people who love pets and those into dog and horse training. The police can take advantage of this navigation system as they will be able to guide sniffing dogs with utmost preciseness.
Pets are innocent creatures and need to be trained well before one can actually depend on them in terms of directions. But mostly people who have visibility problem are either dependent on a white stick or a guide dog to show them way and avoid any mishaps. These pets need to be trained rigorously before one can depend on them one hundred percent, as they tend to get confused between commands or when not in a mood don’t take commands at all. So, G-navi makes sure such a situation does not crop up.

Specially designed for the visually impaired is G-navi. It will ensure that such people don’t feel restricted when it comes to moving around with confidence. Not only will it improve mobility but is also an apt method to train and guide your pets. Apart from all this, the navigation system can be easily coupled with your laptop and cellular phone. In case of an emergency one can make calls for help or even otherwise talk to family and friends.

The Advisor packs the power of a rangefinder and GPS in the visor of a comfortable golf hat. It provides hands-free operation and is controlled by Speaker Independent Voice Recognition, means you get the power of a golf rangefinder and golf GPS without having to carry extra equipment.

Far From Home Space Time Bracelet

Dealing with this phenomenon, designer Alessandro Palombarini and Paolo Buatti joins hand to keep you close to your house. Their space time bracelet concept dubbed the “Far From Home,” calculates the distance between the user and his home. The bracelet integrates a GPS receiver to the watch function, and this GPS is capable of finding out the distance between us and our home. The distance is exhibited on a wide LED display, connected to your home. The clean and linear design of the bracelet makes it an accessory to complement your outfit so that you can flaunt around its beauty.

A new dimension of sightless awareness equipment. This is the “VIA” Visually Impaired Assistant, a pair of hand-centric devices to make the day of a visually impaired person a whole lot easier. These devices use VMD Video Motion Detection technologies, 4 mini cameras, and a voice operated GPS receiver, all to act as both a walking stick and a mapping system. All the while looking rather fabulous on the hands as sensually molded pieces of jewelry (or “super heavy-duty metal equipment” if you’re too masculine for that sensual “J” word.)

Recon lets us know that this pair of goggles right here, “Transcend” is the only pair in the world that provides you with real-time feedback including speed, latitude/longitude, altitude, vertical distance traveled, total distance travelled, chrono/stopwatch mode, a run-counter, temperature and time. Transcend has GPS capabilities, USB charging and data transfer, and post-processing software all with a super easy-to-use, futuristic interface. Recon hints to us that soon there may be an open API app development and download community – with apps!

Everyone loves apps, right? Applications for you to see everything you like through your new Transcend goggles. There’s two models – Transcend SPPX, which is fitted with an SPPX polarized and photochromic lens, and the Transcend SPX which just features an SPX polarized lens. Both rock. Both roll. Hopefully you wont roll though when you’re skiing with them.

The Zeal Optics frame design shows the user info on a micro LCD screen which appears to hang six feet in front of them. Glove-friendly buttons help the user navigate the full-color dashboard and screens. Using the application Recon HQ (which comes free with the goggles) you can upload and track info about your ski sessions instantly. That means contests, real-time sharing, and all sorts of other wacky new-world situations.
