For me, the future of gaming technology surpasses the realms of reality. Every designer is keen on offering his renditions of what the future of gaming may look like. The latest rendition of the future of the Nintendo DS by designer Mario Troise is sure to attract the attention of many a gamers. The designer’s vision of the future Nintendo DS consists of a console with some unbelievable features. Mario’s concept portable console consists of a single flexible touch screen. Offering a 3D experience like never before where the 3D graphics pop out of the screen, the mega resolution of this screen promises to change your gaming experience forever. What is more the console itself can be used in many different ways. The console can be used as a board game and played over a surface. Great for multi player games, players can also use both their hands to play.

Complete with motion sensors, cameras (one in front, one in back), GPS, light sensors, this console is what I wish the future of gaming technology to be like. What is more, the cameras recognize any gestures, faces and movement, creating a complete interaction with the games. The designer has envisioned for this futuristic console a fast processor and a system that allows multiple applications and games running at the same time.
A sleek concept, there are no changes in the mechanical buttons like the arrow and round buttons; it is truly a class apart. Besides a volume button on the side, this console includes a stylus for various drawing applications. And lastly it has an SD card slot for games and files.
Designer Camille Jean is bound to send gamers into a tizzy with her Xbox Mini concept. Jean has answered the dreams of millions of fanboys with her mock-up that turns the popular Xbox console into a pocket-sized handheld.

Microsoft is currently the only member of the gaming big three (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo) to not have a portable gaming system. The Xbox Mini is designed to fill that void with its unique yet practical design.

The Xbox Mini is a slider console, sliding left and right to close and open. The Xbox Mini features two joysticks and a d-pad, putting it well ahead of the PSP, which was harped on for having only one analog stick, and the Nintendo DS, which was ruthlessly criticized for having none. Overall, the Xbox Mini looks good with my only complaint being the Xbox logo that obscures the right part of the screen.
The mobile and easy to use device only supplies the necessary infrastructure, such as Interface, GPS, internet and communication, for collaborative reality games, but it doesn’t provides the required setting for the game, which usually causes fitness related problems among users. German designer Nico Klaeber in collaboration with Debbie Poon and Hanson Wong has developed a Gaming Device Concept dubbed the “Interactive Reality” that attracts teenagers towards a new kind of reality gaming to ensure a healthy lifestyle. Presenting an ergonomic design, the new gaming device moves young gamers, without communicating them, into an altogether different environment that apart from allowing a wonderful gaming experience also makes them aware about their health and fitness.
If technology is evolving with each passing minute then why should the gadgets and accessories remain square and orthodox? Catching up the technological evolution, Canadian firm Deanmark Ltd has come up with a revolutionary computer mouse that invariably becomes an integral part of your body. Hailed as the “AirMouse,” the radical mouse can be worn on your hand like a glove, allowing easy as well as brisk web navigation. Integrating a right and left click mouse buttons in the palm, the AirMouse comes equipped with optical tracking laser that lasts for a week on single charge.

In comparison to the conventional mice, the AirMouse reduces the excessive force in a huge way, as it aligns itself with the user’s hand and wrist ligaments to keep the hand in a neutral position. Moreover, the user can type on the keyboard with ease without removing the glove. The wearable mouse will be available for a reasonable $129 by the end of the year.
Attributing the characteristics of a portable console to your mobile handset, designer Thomas Broadbent has devised a cellphone concept that literally turns your mobile phone into a gaming controller. The ”Gaming Phone,” as the designer hails the phone concept, makes use of a “life light” which shows the power or life of your opponents, together with a microSD card slot that allows extra memory and storage space for new games streamed from the net. The Hybrid cellphone also includes a 3.2 megapixel camera, a USB charger/connection port and a fully colored screen to enrich your experience.
AFGT is a gaming device that uses tactility to enhance the video gaming experience. It’s made up of touch-sensitive silicon – subtly mimics the terrain in a virtual world allowing the user to feel through the environment. It works with individual silicon air pockets laid out underneath, each connected to an air pressure actuator that changes the air pressure in each packet. AFGT was created to connect the gamer to the game on a sensory level, with actions such as navigation achieved through manipulating the positions of the silicon pockets.
Sony unveiled their motion control intentions at this year’s E3 game expo so designer Anh Nguyen must be riding the same wavelength because his PSi concept also features wand-like motion controllers. The console leaves a little something to be desired but the wands are very interesting. You can stack the wands for various games like tug-o-war or add weights if you insist on the video game fitness craze going on right now. If Anh wants to really impress, he better come up with renders showing the wands as light sabers and disrupters. PEW PEW!
The Playstation 4 concept was inspired by the massive popularity of its previous versions, while featuring much more functionalities than any other versions of playstation users have encountered. The first notable feature is the cool, transparent appearance of both the joysticks and the main unit. The transparent area of both elements comprises touch buttons for operating the device and the glossy black round compartment is to place the discs of your choice.Playstation 4 will give the gamer a unique cable-free gaming experience with its Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. Moreover, the transparent display of the main unit can show thumbnails of different part of a disc and allow the user to select a part by simply touching the respective thumbnail.
Mirage is a digital chess set concept that includes a digital projector aside from the conventional chess pieces. This portable chess set is designed for chess enthusiasts that can track the moves of the pieces and provides different playing modes to the user as per the user’s requirement. The old fashioned mode allows two players to play face to face just like an ordinarychess set . When in online mode, a player on net acts as an opponent and the physical pieces are used to play an online game. Finally, the learning or practicing mode allows playing against a computer or watch a game to learn the moves played by chess masters.
