Cyrene Quiamco’s Aeolus Phone Concept Recharges With Wind And Solar Energy

The Aeolus Phone concept by industrial designer Cyrene Quiamco has been created to reduce the burden on the grid and allow users to charge their devices anywhere at any time. The concept uses renewable energy such as wind power and solar power to charge its onboard battery.

The device is equipped with a power generating fan that will capture even the slightest breeze to produce energy. When the wind isn’t blowing, the phone uses onboard solar panels to recharge the battery.

The device features a simple, single color and an energy-efficient LCD screen. The designer claims that the device can be built from renewable materials. The Aeolus can also be attached to a bicycle or on the window of a car with a special tripod to help the fan generate more energy.

iPod Shuffle2020 Always Remains In Sync With The Music In Your PC

Projecting a music player for the year 2020, designer José Ignacio Martínez has developed a portable music player concept for Apple dubbed the “iPod Shuffle2020” that packs unlimited music and battery capacity. Sending the user’s music in his iTunes account through G3 Internet to the inner receptor of the Shuffle, the device is updated automatically every time the user turns it on, as it always remains in sync with the music the user has in his/her computer. The battery also reacts to the G3 waves automatically and remains juiced up all the time.

Working with HyperSoundSystem technology, the iPod Shuffle2020 employs ultrasound waves that travel straight to the inner ear, allowing the listener enjoy music without any earphones. The Shuffle also integrates a microphone that receives the exterior sound/noises and eliminates them with destructive interference. If you wanna hear everything else besides the music, you can set the microphone to partially eliminate the surrounding sound or pause the device.

To turn the device on and play, the user has to push the Power button once and to play the next song, he/she has to push and hold the Power button. The user has to slide the finger up or down on the touchpad to turn the volume and push twice to go back. Like other Apple gadgets, the iPod Shuffle2020 is very intuitive, thanks to MultiTouch technology, while on the other hand, Apple’s VoiceOver technology lets the futuristic Shuffle talk to users and tell them about the song and artist they are listening to at the moment.

Futuristic Gadgets – Kinetically charged watch aims to make you carbon neutral

Industrial designer David Keith, along with his team of researchers, has designed a stylish watch that does more than just tell you the time. The watch powered by the movement of the hand is designed with a built-in CO2 scrubber that tries to make you a carbon neutral person, by continuously removing carbon dioxide from the air surrounding you.

The eCO2 captures carbon dioxide through the CO2 scrubber and clean air is then released through the exhaust vent provided. To keep the electronics powered up, the watch relies on micro generators to harness the energy of movement. The interface displays the amount of CO2 removed, the amount of juice left in its batteries, and of course time.

Project Epoc Lets You Control Video Games with Your Noggin’

Step aside Nintendo, Emotiv’s got dibs on the ultimate game controller right here with their Project Epoc. It’s basically a headset fitted with a bunch of sensors that “read” your mind and let you control video games (be it from your console or PC) via your thoughts. Did I mention it can do this wirelessly? Though it looks like a torture device, the concept is pretty sweet. It’ll be demoed at the Game Developer’s Conference next week. – Louis Ramirez
