Soft Touch Alarm Clock Concept

Modern technology has made life a lot better and easier for the special users, but it also brings some unprovoked danger that poses some serious challenges every so often. Developed by a bunch of designers, including Stuart Winkless, Murray LIppiat, Alister Notridge, Nick Squires and Nicola Jacobs, from the University of Derby, United Kingdom, the “Soft Touch” is an alarm clock for the hearing impaired that comes integrated with sensors to make the user aware of upcoming danger. Employing an inflatable wristband with a micro pump that receives wireless signals from the base unit, the Soft Touch squeezes gently around the wrist of the user, as soon as it senses the danger. Moreover, it connects to other household gadgets, like telephone, doorbell, fire alarms and smoke alarms, to alert the user.

iPod Shuffle2020 Always Remains In Sync With The Music In Your PC

Projecting a music player for the year 2020, designer José Ignacio Martínez has developed a portable music player concept for Apple dubbed the “iPod Shuffle2020” that packs unlimited music and battery capacity. Sending the user’s music in his iTunes account through G3 Internet to the inner receptor of the Shuffle, the device is updated automatically every time the user turns it on, as it always remains in sync with the music the user has in his/her computer. The battery also reacts to the G3 waves automatically and remains juiced up all the time.

Working with HyperSoundSystem technology, the iPod Shuffle2020 employs ultrasound waves that travel straight to the inner ear, allowing the listener enjoy music without any earphones. The Shuffle also integrates a microphone that receives the exterior sound/noises and eliminates them with destructive interference. If you wanna hear everything else besides the music, you can set the microphone to partially eliminate the surrounding sound or pause the device.

To turn the device on and play, the user has to push the Power button once and to play the next song, he/she has to push and hold the Power button. The user has to slide the finger up or down on the touchpad to turn the volume and push twice to go back. Like other Apple gadgets, the iPod Shuffle2020 is very intuitive, thanks to MultiTouch technology, while on the other hand, Apple’s VoiceOver technology lets the futuristic Shuffle talk to users and tell them about the song and artist they are listening to at the moment.

The designer is back with a futuristic cellphone dubbed the “Eye” that allows the user to see the world through its screen. Featuring a see-through LCD screen, the futuristic cellphone not just presents a sleek design for the trendy but also lets them watch movies, view pictures and listen to music anywhere, anytime. And an enhanced GPS system navigates you safely to your destination.

Users can take pictures using the built-in camera to scan buildings and monuments through internet connectivity for added information of that particular place or structure. The transparent mobile phone also enables the user to take pictures in real view through the transparent glass. In addition, you may scan the price of different products for a smart purchase even without the need to visit the stores.

Moreover, the Eye cellphone helps you scan people and get their bio and links to their profile pages on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. Sounds a bit hypothetical, but the Eye allows interactive gaming with camera sensors where your hands become controls for an ultimate gaming experience.

Sony-Ericsson 3G Creates Synergy Between Humans And Technology

Creating synergy between human beings and communication technology, Singapore-based designer Sonny Lim has devised a cellphone concept dubbed “Sony-Ericsson 3G” that allows communication in a more natural manner. The 3G concept phone features large touchscreen wherein text and numbers are drawn with your thumb on a nine-dot matrix, which resembles children’s finger-painting. The idea is easy as it is visual and resembles natural writing. Moreover, drawing a character is faster and more natural than searching for the letter on a small keypad. This visual writing principle could also be applied to non-Western alphabets, which could be a major advantage for non-English users.

Futuristic Prototype Apple Tablet by Lucas Rosa

Just when you think that everyone’s forgotten about the Apple tablet, here it comes again, smacking us right in the head with novelty. This time, we’re dealing with a prototype of the device, or better said some very cool photo manipulation and render, done by Lucas Rosa. This “miniature laptop in tablet form” is some sort of hybrid between Microsoft Courier and a WACOM tablet.

Nintendo DS was also used as an inspiration for the device, that supports gestures, like flipping virtual pages. Also, you should know that the iSlate or Netslate (would be names for the concept) measures about 14 x 21 cm and comes with two foldable parts, connected by a flexible hinge. The tablet uses the iPhone’s OS with some features taken from the desktop Mac OS X.

Pinching gesture is also supported, plus annotations, additional layers of information and even gaming, with virtual controls on screen. The display on this tablet concept is an AMOLED, thin and energy saving, while the memory is all SSD. USB and FireWire are not included, but WiFi and Bluetooth are, as well as induction charging. Hot concept!
