
Attributing the characteristics of a portable console to your mobile handset, designer Thomas Broadbent has devised a cellphone concept that literally turns your mobile phone into a gaming controller. The ”Gaming Phone,” as the designer hails the phone concept, makes use of a “life light” which shows the power or life of your opponents, together with a microSD card slot that allows extra memory and storage space for new games streamed from the net. The Hybrid cellphone also includes a 3.2 megapixel camera, a USB charger/connection port and a fully colored screen to enrich your experience.

Motorola’s designers, from five different offices around the globe, have been dedicating a portion of their time since late last year to a project called “Motorola 2033.” The initiative, under the auspices of the Consumer Experience Design team (CXD), uses the 25th anniversary of the mobile phone as an opportunity to imagine mobile device design 25 years on, resulting in a curious set of research-based blue sky concepts rooted in some fantastical, yet plausible suppositions.

At their booth at CEATEC Fujitsu has introduced many appealing designs for concept phone. As they are yet in the concept stage, cannot be sure which design will actually come true someday. However, some of the designs which really caught my attention are- the red cylindrical phone that displays both a virtual keyboard and screen, the transparent soaplike phone with green button, the watch like phone and crystal soapbox like phone.

Cobalto and Zafiro are two futuristic concept devices that have been designed by getting inspired from Sci-Fi movies like “Minority Report”. Cobalto, the glass screen of this mobile phoneconcept has been envisioned to be able to produce 3D objects in the air which is really exciting. The device features deformable metal which will allow the user to function either on traditional number buttons or a dial like iPod.
