Developed for Philips, the “Easyglider” by Portuguese Studio NAMIC is an innovative steam iron concept that features a new gripping method to prevent repetitive strain injury (RSI), making ironing safe and easy for the user. Presenting an ergonomically correct design with an ultra sleek base, the new iron is easier to carry and operate anywhere, anytime. Placing the steam controller (central button), activated by squeezing it against the core of the iron like a trigger, behind the fingers, the iron concept allows better control over the steam generated that constantly fluctuates between the minimum and maximum squeezing pressure on the button.

Cambridge Consultants have designed a pocket size device called The Minder that can reduce recovery times and hospital visits. The firm has announced this new product concept based on its low-cost Continua-compliant Vena platform. The Minder, powered by Vena (people also call it Vena Minder), allows continuous, real-time medical data collection and transmission via cellular networks. This way, this unit provides new technology solution that can lower the cost of healthcare by improving the quality of patient care.

Providing a solution, German designer Rob has come up with a digital street map named the “plan.b” that provides a tactile representation of surroundings to the visually impaired, navigating them safely in puzzling lanes. The digital map not only let the user feel the surface to sense the information of the surroundings, but offers additional audio information by pressing the displayed structures as well. Providing all important information on proportions of architecture and distances, the plan.b enables the visually impaired move independently, freely and safely, no matter if he or she is familiar with the locality or not.
