Rimino – E-paper Mobile Device By Amid Moradganjeh

Cellphones come in typical box like shapes and all the brands resemble each other. Cutting this notion is a futuristic mobile concept, christened Rimino, designed by Amid Moradganjeh. It is an E-paper gadget that has been heavily stimulated from posters available in print.

The designer has tried to juxtapose human experience and experimental designing. The end product is uniquely eye-appealing and is here to flip the whole mobile usage experience. With hi-tech technology seeping into our daily lives, Rimino has not been devoid of this trend. A lot of technologies have been amalgamated for a much better human experience.

The user will be endowed with a flexibility to use their intuitive power while operating the gadget. Its experience will rise above the normal face-to-face calling and messaging. Novel concepts have been incorporated that will take you beyond the notification and calling traits.

The back of Rimino comes embedded with a Lively Pad. This pad gives birth to interactions that exploit light, moisture, temperature and olfactory sense in an ingenious manner. The device is supple and can be bent to perform a variety of tasks and generate new applications. The gadget has a UI that is gold based. A special path (blending with mental model of humans) is used to perform a variety of tasks while apps take a backseat here.

Rimino can easily interact with other gadgets and the user can enjoy a widespread system that is connected. It can sense devices present in its vicinity and act accordingly without any hitch. Rimino is a breakthrough concept that will change lives in a better manner. Its resolution, printed paper designing and human sensitive experience will make it an instant favorite.

Public Poster – Solar Powered Electronic Public Bulletin Board

Public Poster is a solar-powered electronic public bulletin board that displays uploaded information and images on an e-paper screen.
Public bulletin boards are a good way to publish information, but they are not always easy to maintain. Furthermore, the information on bulletin boards is not easy to browse, and some items can be overlooked. Public Poster provides an interface for the exchange of published information. Information is transmitted wirelessly to Public Poster, which is powered by solar energy. No paper is required.

Public Poster uses e-paper to save energy and reduce the consumption of paper and ink. Its display contains several different grid sizes, and the appropriate format and combination can be selected according to need. People can use the Internet or Bluetooth gadgets to dispatch images (in standard formats ranging from A5 to A2 size) or video to Public Poster. The public can easily browse the various pieces of information. Advertisers can simply launch their advertisement at will. When the ad expires, the e-paper will become transparent to indicate that space is available for others to use.

During the day, Public Poster collects solar energy. At night, it can become a public lantern and provide a light source as well as an atmospheric environment. Public Poster has a simple external design with simple styling to prevent any negative impressions from viewers and to further integrate itself into various environments.

LG Debuts Flexible 9.7-Inch Color E-Paper

You may soon get to see a new generation of color and flexible e-paper coming from LG Display. According to a recent SEC filing, the company is expecting to begin mass production of 9.7-inch color and 19-inch flexible e-paper by the end of the year. The 9.7-inch color e-paper could go into future generations of e-readers like the Kindle or even multimedia devices like tablets.

Apparently, the 19-inch display is same one that was unveiled in January this year. We can hope to see it being used for a newspaper-sized device. The new display technology is sure to make a mark in the e-paper world.

Scroll Concept Gadget with 10 Megapixel Camera and 1080p Camcorder

While waiting for E-paper devices we’re content with concept phones and all sorts of contraptions like the Scroll concept you can check out below. This original idea was created by 13 Tech Design at its features are impressive to say the least. Imagine a 10 megapixel camera, a full HD camcorder and Windows Vista/XP under the same portable “roof”…

Add WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity to those features and don’t forget a mighty processor, plus RAM and obscenely huge storage space. Well, those last hardware specs are still a mystery, but we don’t know where they’re going to fit, inside such a tiny device. Also, imagine its price… that’ll buy you some iPhones!

Designed by Giandaniele Asquini and the product of research and collaboration with Nokia, this device uses magnets placed on 3 sides of the phone.

Compact and Light Packet Concept Phone

What you can see below is the Packet concept phone, the winner of the Istanbul Design Week 2007, created by Emir Rifat ISIK. It’s a surprising device measuring only 5 x 5 cm (folded), which opens up to show its user 5 surfaces which include a keypad, 2 mini keyboards and touch sensitive buttons.

The handset is made out of some sort of e-paper, that’s touch-sensitive and makes the device extremely light and thin. It may also be made of environmentally friendly materials, so we’ll be high tech and “green” at the same time, in case this design turns into a real phone.
