Now-a-days people wish that everything they want to use should come packed in one gadget. This way all the mess of carrying multiple tools takes a backseat and makes organizing things easy. With umpteen apps squeezed into mobiles, tablets and computers, performing tasks has never come in so handy. Adding to these advantages is the PRAX concepts by Vil Tsimenzin that will further allow you to perform physical work. Acting as a tablet as well as a cellphone the “Practical Apps Optimization Enabled Devices” (PAOE) makes it possible for gadgets to perform some physical work.

Imagine your tablet warming food for you, piercing holes in the wall or whipping cream for icing on your favorite cake. How cool! After setting the exact app through PAOE, it is capable of acting as a saw tooth, scales, hammer, drill and a stove top to heat food. Though all this sounds a little too far-fetched but then it was created just to inject some fun element. A little fun is always welcome. So, bring it on.

The concept:

The LG EXO cellphone has been conceptualized and designed by Benjamin Lotte. His phone apparently broke in a minor incident and that is what inspired him to design a durable phone that could be used carelessly without any hassles.

We would imagine that in today’s times durability would be to provide a bulky protective outer body encasing the cellphone, but EXO is entirely different. The outer body i.e. EXO functions much like the ‘exoskeleton’ and replicates the human body’s natural resilience by protecting the sensitive internal parts of the phone with an external skin made from tough rubber with high durability.

The design:

The EXO has been cleverly given a curved body which aids in increasing its strength and longevity. This uniquely shaped phone can be held comfortably in your palm when in use and can snugly fit inside your pocket when not in use.

The arc in the phone also ensures that upon falling, no harm will be caused to the screen. The EXO has incorporated the flexible OLED technology so as to give the touch screen a curved shape, which can be operated with your thumb.

Since the exoskeleton is formed out of highly durable polymers, it is more resilient to any form of abuse as it has the capacity to absorb shocks.

Beneath the exoskeleton is the actual body of the phone that comprises of the entire internal hardware such as the 1.5-GHz snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel wide-angle camera and a high power lithium battery.

The phone has a flexible 3.8 in OLED screen, whose curved structure is fundamental in preventing scratches and breakages as it can curve up or away from any object that it is placed under.

The EXO phone provides its user a hassle-free experience, as accidental falls would leave the phone undamaged and hence increase the life of the phone.

The outer covering “EXO” encases the internal body containing the delicate hardware forming a cocoon resistant to all types of shocks. However, if the exo-skeleton gets damaged under any circumstances, then it can be replaced with a new inexpensive and customized shell, as per your requirements.

The fabulous:

The purpose of the LG EXO phone is to provide its user an aesthetic and a technologically advanced device that can withstand the small accidents that occur in day-to-day usage without any serious breakage.

The outer shell of the phone – EXO – is of a highly durable nature and functions as a shock absorber. The EXO is what differentiates this phone from the others, as it increases the longevity of the phone.

Millions of phones are disposed annually in landfills leading to e-waste that comes to millions of tons every year – truly a wastage of our precious and rare materials! This e-waste seeps into groundwater making it toxic for human consumption. Hence, the durability of EXO addresses this problem

The inspiration:

The inspiration in designing EXO comes from the structure of the human body wherein the ‘exoskeleton’ has the capacity to absorb shocks. Hence the outer covering of the EXO, made from resilient rubber polymers, fulfills the same purposes and ensures that the phone never gets scratched, cracked and broken.

The target:

This phone is targeted to those consumers who are mobile lovers or mobile enthusiasts.

With the latest technologies opening new horizons in the consumer electronic market, futuristic gadgets promise better looks and user interfaces to enhance the experience of the user. Conceived by American designer Andrew Namminga based in Orange County, California, the “Flexible Modile” is a conceptual mobile device that utilizes emerging technology to be created around a soft surface, ideally a fabric and or mesh, which would house the main components and mount the screen. Featuring the touch sensitive, flexible screen to allow the device fold out and become a tablet, the new mobile device also utilizes the outside screen to display the graphic treatment/background, picked by the user, to allow quick and easy customization and unlimited CFM options.
Industrial designer Cyrene Quiamco took inspiration from a Swiss Army knife to design a concept phone
that eases music, contact information and other data transfer that till date is mostly transferred via Bluetooth. The concept phone, known as Kard, utilizes electronic cards to exchange information between two similar devices.
The cellphone packs a card reader and a touchscreen interface. Cards can be made from a wide range of materials, which can be flexible as well. Transferring data from one cellphone to another requires a swipe of the relevant card. Other cards can include a solar panel card that the user can flip to change the cellphone when it is out of juice. The device can support a maximum of 10 cards, which will each perform a unique task.
With the latest technological advancements, features and functions of mobile phones change more frequently than any other portable gadget available on the market, as we see something different and new in a cellphone every few days. Conceived by designer Jim Chan, the “Nokia 2030” is a phone concept that presents an illuminated touch sensitive keypad to allow fast and easy messaging. Featuring a body finished in reinforced scratch-resistant glass, the futuristic phone comes with full-color display capabilities to enhance the experience of the user. Measuring 2 x 4.75 x 0.25 inches (WLH) in dimensions, the Nokia 2030 also attaches colored films, at the rear, to change its color, while polished titanium case protects the screen from scratches.

The trend
In recent past, social networking has emerged as a popular medium, especially among gen-next, to interact with friends and associates and discuss their day-to-day or business activities. Making the most out of the new trend, designers are working on different portable gadgets that promises a better platform for social networking not only within the our walls but on the move as well. The “Blackberry Empathy” by designer Daniel Yoon is an identical phone concept that apart from regular verbal communication also enables the user to go through the activities and updates of their friends, while reading the emotional state, using a biometric ring, of the wearer.

The Inspiration
Communication technologies may allow interaction on an entirely new level; still users feel cramped to communicate their true feelings on certain occasions. Intended to integrate the concept of social networking with human emotions, the new cellphone employs biometric technology to sense and share the true feelings to ensure a better communication among users.

What makes it so special?
Based on the idea of a mood ring, the futuristic cellphone allows quick status updates to help you know who is ready for a conversation and who is busy and cannot be disturbed. Connecting the user straightaway to popular sites like Facebook and MySpace for quick and enhanced messaging, the Empathy includes proximity sensors that let you sense the emotions of the occupants when you enter the room, as the emotion chart converts the feelings into a visual timeline. The concept phone also features movable keys, translucent tactile keyboard and flexible OLED screen, together with heads up display (HUD), double sided screen (clamshell) and slide-out split keypad to enhance the experience of the user.

Reflecting the deeply divided paradox of human nature and emotions with its asymmetric form, the Empathy integrates a keypad that changes color according to the emotional state, sensed from messages and phone calls, as the biometric ring transmits the body signals of wearer and sends data to the main device for interpretation.

What’s in it for me?

With Empathy Phone, now you will be able to sense and respond to the real feelings of your friends, associates and family members, through popular social networking sites, in a better way. The new Blackberry phone is easy to operate, as one can easily adapt to it. All you need to do is just pick the phone, wear the biometric ring and then log on to any social networking site to sense the feelings of your friend. In case, you don’t wanna share your deep emotion with others, you may avoid it by simply removing the biometric ring.

What’s next?

The concept of Social networking through portable devices is already popular among the masses, but the biometric technology will just take it to another level. And with latest innovations in technology, the day isn’t too far when you would be able to do live video chats using your mobile handset on the go.

The latest trends and designs in the cellphone industry have simply outclassed the landline phones in the past few years. Reviving the grandeur of the desk phones, German designer Ronny Sauer has developed a stylish phone dubbed the “Hello Tomorrow” that comes with an adjustable interface that users can optimize individually at home or in the office to meet their personal needs. Embedding a clear display on the receiver, the phone concept gives access to all the functions, even when the receiver is docked in the phone. In addition, the sleek, trendy design of the table phone goes hand in hand with the decor of contemporary places.
NOKIA E10 is a concept phone which has a bendable screen and can provide two useage mode through folding structure. The screen material is flexible and thin enough to roll around onto a 6mm axis, so it can save more spaces.

NOKIA E10 provides a flexible user experience. It’s a normal phone when it’s folded up, through using the hard touch screen, you can make phone call, send message&E-mail, play games, do whatever you can do like other normal phones. When unfolded, it will transform into an amazing device, you can watch high-definition pictures and videos, get more information in one page. Definitely, it supports touch control.
Except the high flexibility, NOKIA E10 also concerns the environmental effect. There are three solar batteries on the back, they can give a stronger power supply than other phones which have only one solar battery. NKOIA E10also has a lithium battery, they will provide steady power.
French designer Jerome Le Creusot has just shared his latest cellphone concept called the “Neongen” with us that seems to make communication easier with its user-friendly interface. User can simply rotate the two halves and then turn over the mobile phone to access the touchscreen interface to navigate the phone menu. Made using PMMA and polypropylene, the trendy cellphone replaces screws with clips for easy assembly, while LED lighting gives it a brighter look. The compact cellphone is easy to carry and just fits in your palm for effortless use and movement.
