One of the major challenges of this year’s Electrolux Design Lab was to find efficient ways of maximizing space at home, and Nicolas Hubert’s External Refrigerator is one neat solution. The External Refrigerator can be hung directly on the outside wall of residential buildings, thereby saving a lot of space. The low external temperatures provide the right climate for items in the fridge during the winters and at night. In case of summers and the sunny days, the solar panels transform light into energy. The process helps homeowners save both energy and money.

Available in a range of colors, the French designer’s External Refrigerator comes with ambient lighting. Nicolas Huber says that his concept permits to combine both refrigerator and air-conditioning system at home. Nicolas Hubert’s External Refrigerator is perfect for use in urban apartment settings where space is at a premium.
