First 3D Newspaper

As the technology is fast spreading its wings in everyday life, the traditional print media doesn’t remain untouched either. Yes, the print media has taken a big leap with Belgian French-language daily has printed what comes out to be Europe’s first 3D newspaper, complete with cardboard viewing glasses.
After two months of herculean task, La Derniere Heure released the 3d newspaper on Tuesday on experimental basis wherein all the photos and ads were given the three dimensional effects with text remaining the same.
The pictures inside it were shot in stereo 3D and printed in anaglyph format, thus needing the free anaglyph glasses that were provided with the paper for the convenience of the readers.
Although the bold initiative of the La Derniere Heure news daily was praised as its circulation increased considerably from 85,000 to 115,000 copies, yet there remains a lot incomplete to make results perfect.
On the other, it remains unclear whether the newspaper will continue publishing in 3d in the near future as the cost involved remains too high to sell it at the present rate.

The problem with things like “3D” and “Smell’o'vision” and other such gimmicks is…well, the fact that they’re gimmicks, for the most part.
Even stereo and surround sound is largely a gimmick in most uses. It’s very interesting technology, it is, but unless you can find some ~practical~ way of using it, to where it actually ADDS something to the content and ENHANCES the content in a way that you would actually miss out on something without it…then yeah, it’s really great.
But in most cases, whether you have it, or you don’t have it…really doesn’t affect the overall experience. An image that appears to hover on top of your newspaper may seem kind of neat, but the question to ask is *WHY* does it need to hover over the newspaper?
Now if you can think of a creative use, like, for say a travel agency, you could have like a plane seemingly flying over your newspaper with little clouds hovering around it…that would be kind of interesting and would really add something to the message of the advertisement. But simply applied straight out to most ~existing~ advertisements…yeah, yer not really adding much of anything, other than a cheap gimmick.
It is still worth the high price of the 3-D admission to see some of the amazing animation and design, but the writing is extremely boring and clumsy, and the performances cannot save it. Too many liberties were taken with the originals here, and in no way improve upon them, it only barely resembles either of Carroll’s books in theme and some specific scenes. There are some “Disney moments” that literally set off a gag reflex as well.
I do think diferrent because my family use another model. It’s relaxed and i love it’s very much. But next 3D Products I’ll think of this as 3D stuffs that you present.Thank!!!
