First 3D Newspaper

As the technology is fast spreading its wings in everyday life, the traditional print media doesn’t remain untouched either. Yes, the print media has taken a big leap with Belgian French-language daily has printed what comes out to be Europe’s first 3D newspaper, complete with cardboard viewing glasses.

After two months of herculean task, La Derniere Heure released the 3d newspaper on Tuesday on experimental basis wherein all the photos and ads were given the three dimensional effects with text remaining the same.

The pictures inside it were shot in stereo 3D and printed in anaglyph format, thus needing the free anaglyph glasses that were provided with the paper for the convenience of the readers.

Although the bold initiative of the La Derniere Heure news daily was praised as its circulation increased considerably from 85,000 to 115,000 copies, yet there remains a lot incomplete to make results perfect.

On the other, it remains unclear whether the newspaper will continue publishing in 3d in the near future as the cost involved remains too high to sell it at the present rate.
