E-Mote TV essentially sticks to your temples and continuously scans the neuron activity of your brain. As you think about a particular television program, for instance. ‘Two and a Half Men’, this marvel of modern science & technology will read your brain activity, record it, decode it near instantaneously and will switch your TV to CBS for the show by interacting with the TV’s infra-red function. E-Mote TV is powered by a new generation lithium-ion battery and the device is compatible with both Bluetooth and wifi networking. This incredible thought reading television remote carries synaptic wave sensor and is compatible with nearly all televisions from major brands.

A research and development center in Taiwan developed a technology, which can take forward the technology ecosystem of Taiwan. This is just news for you, now; imagine a piece of hardware that can convert your television in to a touch screen device. Turning a plain display in to a multi-touch device is not an easy task. However, Industrial Technology Research Institute has created a piece of hardware that can turn a plain display into touch screen. Buying a 52-inch TV is quite expensive but using this device to turn an existing TV into a touch screen will be much cost-effective. Yes, it is true; the hardware can turn a normal TV of any size into touch a screen TV. This is the reason that the demo was packed.

The device consists of two sensors, one on the top corner and the other at the bottom corner. The sensors can detect the movement of the fingers on the screen, so that the user can interact with the display just like a touch screen device. It can also detect multi- touch gesture and hence zoom in is also possible. This development under ITRI can change the way of living because a large number people watch TV. Adding the touch screen facility will not only make easy to use, but it will look elegant as well.

The technology is still under development and it will take time to reach the consumers, but it is obvious that when it will launch in the market you will definitely mount this interesting device to your TV. The mass production can take a year or more and due to its cost-effectiveness; the success is sure. You have to wait for the actual price and be sure that it will be slightly more expensive to add this device to an existing TV.

For some reason, movie studios and TV manufacturers seems to have decided that 3D is the next big thing. We can’t say for sure whether we’ll all be watching the nightly news with those nerdy glasses on anytime soon, but we do know that like everything else, the novelty will wear off of 3D sooner or later. So it’s a good thing that Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology came up with the next big thing in 3D TV: a display that lets you touch and manipulate the 3D images on the screen. The system is called i3Space, and it’s the world’s first 3D display that allows users to actually touch the items they see in the air.

It works with the cooperation of six motion detector cameras and small clips attached to the user’s index fingers. The clips help the cameras track the user’s hand movements while also making little tactile sensations against the fingertips. Overall, the system knows where you’re touching and what type of movement you’re making, and it provides physical feedback so that it feels like there is an actual physical object in your hands. While we’d like to think that there’s some noble philanthropic use for this technology, we can imagine exactly what it’ll be used for eventually…and there’s nothing noble about it.

American poet Ralph Waldo Emerson once said that “Every wall is a door.” I wish, Mr. Ralph would have seen the Planar Systems Ultra-High Resolution Wall developed recently by Planar Systems, Inc – as this wall has been built for getting things done. It is actually a 18 inches display wall which delivers 5,760 x 2,160 pixels resolution. It is a Clarity MegaPixel Wall for the perusal of corporate world entrepreneurs who want to showcase information during conferences or meetings. The MegaPixel Wall takes you into an another live world through it’s one of its kind simulations display.

Steve Seminario, Senior Director, Product Marketing of Planar Systems said that “Until now, you couldn’t get a wall display with high resolution, high brightness, large screen size and a small footprint. The Clarity MegaPixel Wall cracks the ultra-high resolution code for conference room settings where teams collaborate and make critical decisions based on high resolution visual information such as maps, simulations, engineering models, or detailed business models.” It is indeed a great achievement in the field of projection display. It is suitable for the applications like: oil and gas exploration, geospatial intelligence, engineering design, scientific visualization, military simulation, videoconferencing, etc.
The Clarity MegaPixel Wall is further divided into two models: An 8-megapixel, 100-inch diagonal Clarity mp100 and an 12-megapixel, 146-inch Clarity mp150. These models run on Clarity Interlock screen design which harnesses the power for displaying unmatchable high definition image quality, brightness and contrast.

The MegaPixel Wall incorporates a one-touch calibration (with simple controls) for a precision alignment of the image. Planar contends that the entire mechanism displays image with 99 percent accuracy which creates an extremely effective impact over the subconscious – for retaining memory in the long run. Planar Systems also said that this device is an application agnostic which displays images clearly without any additional hardware. So we can bid adieu to the traditions and bulky projectors by using this MegaPixel Wall.

Touchscreens are becoming a part of everyday life and this video by Corning shows some awesome ideas that the future may have in store for us. From the time we wake up until we go to bed, glass and touchscreens will be everywhere. Yes, it’s a blatant advertisement for Corning, but other companies like AT&T do videos like this fairly often. It’s interesting to see what directions they’d like to lead their companies in and it’s also fun to look back years later to see where they were right, which ideas never came to fruition, or which ideas ended up more impressive than originally thought. Video phones never caught on, for example, but webcams certainly did. The first idea is hardly surprising, which is that our windows will be made of photovoltaic glass, adding a green energy source to our homes. The glass also apparently alternates from dark to clear in order to keep sunlight out when you’re trying to sleep. Your large, wall-mounted flat-screen television will also become a multitasker, its touch screen allowing you to view various images at once; check the news, traffic, and weather in real time all at once. The bathroom will also apparently have a touchscreen so you can watch television and send text messages to friends, although I don’t really see that one catching on.

Corning then promotes sturdy glass to cover your kitchen counters and your stove. More touchscreen technology will let you fine-tune the stove top temperature and other oven functions. One idea that I really like is that the door of your refrigerator will also be a large touchscreen, letting you ‘hang’ various photos and videos or leave notes for the family. To my complete lack of surprise, video phone technology appears once again in this concept video.

They also showcase how your kitchen counter top can be used much like the Microsoft Surface technology, letting it recognize objects placed on it, such as cell phones.

Automotive display glass will replace a stand-alone GPS and give a slick new look to your dashboard. The large-format display glass is weather resistant and showcased as replacing the big green road signs we’re all familiar with. Personally, I’d prefer the road signs remain non-electronic in case of power outages or other emergencies. However, the next part where the glass walls of bus stops become an interactive schedule and map is a fantastic idea.

Business use is shown next, with a large glass touchscreen used by a designer, allowing him to not only conference (by video phone, of course) on the screen, but also use it as a workspace. Larger glass displays will allow high resolution images and videos to be displayed as advertisements, which is another idea I see becoming a reality. I could definitely see movie posters in theaters being replaced with something flashier. The day finishes with more interactive touchscreens for customers to get more information on products, flexible screens to replace static images like blueprints, and e-paper to replace paperback books. And, of course, Corning glass will allow you to have an enormous 3DTV in your living room.

Some of the ideas are pretty out there, but Corning manages to keep most of them grounded in the realm of the believable, and it will be interesting to see how many of these become reality. As touchscreen technology becomes cheaper, we’ll see things like tablet computers drop in price, eventually followed by much larger, affordable screens to use in our homes and workplaces.

Ask yourself, “what’s the next step in television innovation?” The answer is transparency – an invisible flatscreen that blends into the home environment when not in use, much like the Loewe Invisio. This magnificent TV is not a big black blot in standby mode, like how all television sets are. It’s a clear, frameless glass surface that keeps the room in its “visually unaltered” state.
Michael explains, “As the first of its kind, the Loewe Invisio introduces technical innovation, combining conventional LCD and the latest TOLED display technology. This allows to create non-transparent / solid moving pictures with rich color reproduction and full contrast range from solid black to pristine white.”

Just what our homes need!
Flexible and curved displays haven’t made it to the fore yet but already we have Samsung Mobile Display showing off the TV of the future. Well, this isn’t just a flexible display alone, rather it’s a flexible and foldable 3D-OLED-TV that was shown of at the design contest 2010 by SMD. Samsung believes the foldable TV that will revolutionize TV viewing and would get 3D content to the user beyond the confines of his living room. If you’re excited and considering this a reality anytime soon, hang on, the foldable TV may just be decade or at least half a decade away.
