Providing a solution, German designer Rob has come up with a digital street map named the “plan.b” that provides a tactile representation of surroundings to the visually impaired, navigating them safely in puzzling lanes. The digital map not only let the user feel the surface to sense the information of the surroundings, but offers additional audio information by pressing the displayed structures as well. Providing all important information on proportions of architecture and distances, the plan.b enables the visually impaired move independently, freely and safely, no matter if he or she is familiar with the locality or not.

Whenever we are away from our home, we try to navigate the location and distance of our home, and it’s quite a familiar human behavior. Dealing with this phenomenon, designer Alessandro Palombarini and Paolo Buatti joins hand to keep you close to your house. Their space time bracelet concept dubbed the “Far From Home,” calculates the distance between the user and his home. The bracelet integrates a GPS receiver to the watch function, and this GPS is capable of finding out the distance between us and our home. The distance is exhibited on a wide LED display, connected to your home. The clean and linear design of the bracelet makes it an accessory to complement your outfit so that you can flaunt around its beauty.
A new dimension of sightless awareness equipment. This is the “VIA” Visually Impaired Assistant, a pair of hand-centric devices to make the day of a visually impaired person a whole lot easier. These devices use VMD Video Motion Detection technologies, 4 mini cameras, and a voice operated GPS receiver, all to act as both a walking stick and a mapping system. All the while looking rather fabulous on the hands as sensually molded pieces of jewelry (or “super heavy-duty metal equipment” if you’re too masculine for that sensual “J” word.)

German designer Nico Klaeber in collaboration with Debbie Poon and Hanson Wong has developed a Gaming Device Concept dubbed the “Interactive Reality” that attracts teenagers towards a new kind of reality gaming to ensure a healthy lifestyle. Presenting an ergonomic design, the new gaming device moves young gamers, without communicating them, into an altogether different environment that apart from allowing a wonderful gaming experience also makes them aware about their health and fitness.
