Mountaineer Digital Compass Wrist Watch By Milad Taleghani

A compass is normally used to calculate right direction by many. However, with technological advancements, this piece of instrument went electronic in the form of magnetometers. Designer Milad Taleghani, who earlier designed the Mountaineer DWC (digital wrist compass) wrist watch, has now come up with a gadget that clubs the features of a magnetometer, a watch and GPS system.

The multi-functional gadget can be easily tied around the wrist. The strap has been crafted from rubber and further enveloped with leather, which gives it an elegant look. It will be of utmost help for mountaineers who usually face unavoidable weather conditions like fog. Such a situation may unknowingly make them take a wrong way and they can feel lost. With this device, one can make good use of map and navigation tools while traveling. This is accurate than a traditional compass and will give flawless directions.

The watch comes embedded with a receiver, which can be used to feed important information via Bluetooth. This will give proper directions with the help of a pointer that has been shaped like a compass needle. A user can switch off the compass mode when not in use to save battery life. After this, it can be used as a smart time piece that will decorate your wrist. It will be crafted from polyamide or Kevlar that will make it face adverse weather conditions. The pointer of mountaineer DWC comes fitted with an LED, which will make it glow in the dark as well.

Origin GPS By Xun Ye For Visually Impaired People

Visually impaired people can’t see a single ray of light. So, to make them feel one with the crowd, designers are coming up with products that will act as a ray of hope in their lives. Xun Ye has come up with a walking cane named Origin. The collapsible design will make such people all the more independent and promote mobility.

The cane has been fitted with a GPS system, which will allow blind people to walk without the fear of getting lost or hurt. The designer has made good use of modern technology for the betterment of this section. The simple design features a microphone, speaker, switch and a Braille scale. Braille system has been adopted in this design. Before moving towards a destination, a user says the name of the place through the microphone, which has been crafted in a raised manner for easy recognition. The spoken information is received by the GPS system which acts accordingly.

The cane has been fitted with a Braille scale that turns around to inform the user about upcoming turns. The red colored button serves multiple functions and guides the user as well. It also has a rubber wrist band, which is worn around the wrist for easy usage. Origin, with so many features, will act as the best friend for visually impaired and make them reach their destination independently.

Eva – Autonomous GPS For Different Types Of Users

In today’s rushed times, almost everyone needs to reach destinations, the directions of which are sometimes unknown. Eva, comes as a solution for all these ‘geographical’ needs, and brings along an eco-friendly perspective, with its solar powered operations.

Whether it was reaching the particular client’s office at the other end of town, or the quest to find the way on the jigsaw of a roadmap, Eva comes to the relief of those who have been ‘geographically’ challenged. The ones suffering the most in such common situations are those with special needs or are physically incapable of finding their way out. With its multi-interface input system, this device can take inputs from the 8 different touch points on the screen which vibrate to give out directions, or through voice (with or without headphones) or even simply gives information output through the display itself!

The device, with the help of the inbuilt camera, displays the information about routes to desired destination when one points towards the particular direction. Also, the device takes in information about most popularly visited destinations by the user, and can be retrieved later if desired. To make sure the output is authentic; the device uses the platforms such as the internet and the GPS system, displaying exact details and the alternatives routes. To make the functionality more user-friendly, the device comes with built in gaming programmes which are integrated to give out information via the screen, or audio or even simply vibration signals. Also, the unique shape and styling has ensured that the Eva fits well into the palm of your hand which makes it easy to use.

What stands out as a surprise factor is that all these operations are carried on by power from the solar panels, fitted with the device! The solar panels take it energy from the sun, and convert it into electrical charge which eventually runs the device. Other eco-friendly aspects include the body of the device, made from softwood pulp, which can molded if desired, and also its screen which is made from e-paper, a low energy consuming material used to make display screens. And what’s more; the quality of display doesn’t get affected when exposed to direct sunlight, unlike other devices where the output on the screen in virtually invisible.

A much needed relief for people like us, who find it difficult to find their way out, or most importantly the ones who are physically incapable of doing so. But the demand for the device would be affected by 2 main factors: availability and price across different countries.

G-navi – Guide Dog Navigation

This navigation system that comes clubbed with a microphone will make mobility of people with restricted eyesight easy and more efficient. One can easily train their pets with the help of this device and teach them in terms of directions.

It brings into play the GPS technologies that are used during Horse riding. This device conveniently gets activated when the user and guide dog need to take a turn. The leather collar that comes equipped with a controlling system after learning which direction the dog is supposed to go will get activated. For eg. it will turn the dog’s head towards left after the G-navi device angles towards left, in case of a left turn.

Apart from this gadget will connect devices like laptops and cell phones via Bluetooth for easy exchange of information. A person can without any added effort register number of favorite locations and can alter all whenever required. In case any emergency pops up it will not leave you mid-way. G-navi’s emergency call function will easily link you with your family member, police station or hospital through its RFID and Wireless Technology.

The main objective of this piece of equipment is to help visually impaired people move around with extra advantages and enhanced systems. It will instantly click with people who love pets and those into dog and horse training. The police can take advantage of this navigation system as they will be able to guide sniffing dogs with utmost preciseness.
Pets are innocent creatures and need to be trained well before one can actually depend on them in terms of directions. But mostly people who have visibility problem are either dependent on a white stick or a guide dog to show them way and avoid any mishaps. These pets need to be trained rigorously before one can depend on them one hundred percent, as they tend to get confused between commands or when not in a mood don’t take commands at all. So, G-navi makes sure such a situation does not crop up.
